event: breathing room, a workshop and soft space to share & process our feelings about covid
Before I get into it, I want to share an upcoming event: breathing room — a hypnosis workshop and soft space for us to share and process our feelings about covid. You can skip further down if you'd like to read the inspiration behind it.
breathing room
a hypnosis workshop and soft space to share &
process our feelings about covid
monday, 7.24.23, 7-9p est / 4-6p pst, via zoom

I am offering this as the space that I and many others, based on personal conversations within my communities, need. We all seem to carry a wide and conflicting range of beliefs about covid’s significance. I want to make space for the feelings it may stir up in us, bring awareness to underlying stories and beliefs, and imagine other possibilities of relating to it. And I want us all to do so with a sense of curiosity and wonder.
In this workshop we will:
Share and witness each other’s emotions around the pandemic, without needing to find a “solution”
Learn more about hypnosis, how it works, and how it can be generally supportive
Through a guided hypnosis experience, explore how we can shift our relationship to our feelings and find space to imagine other possibilities
This is for you if:
You feel uncomfortable or have conflicting feelings about covid in any way
You seek a soft space to share your feelings and be heard
You are comfortable with listening to and curious about a variety of opinions and feelings
You are interested in nuanced conversation
You want to learn more about hypnosis and how it can be supportive
Exchange: $5-15. The workshop is virtual and space is limited.
Take a moment to notice: what stories and feelings surface in you at the mention of covid?
A little before my birthday, I came down with covid (again). Nearly a month has gone by and while I technically no longer have it, I am still recovering from its effects. This experience has felt isolating in many ways and has reignited my questioning of why covid is left out of conversations about community care. It has also stirred up a mix of feelings: anger, frustration, shame, tension, sympathy, loneliness, to name a few.
I have so many thoughts and questions about covid, but don’t always feel like there’s space to talk about and hold it with care and nuance, leaving me feeling like I have to constantly assess risk and many times opt out of certain connections, community gatherings, and events. We all carry widely differing beliefs about covid’s significance, leading to individual actions that seem to be at odds with care for our communities, especially the most vulnerable ones.
As a practitioner of care who believes that we are not only shaped by our personal experiences but by the greater social circumstances in which we collectively live, I find it difficult to ignore covid in the wellness and healing conversation. It quite literally exists in the air that we breathe and share.
breathing room is an extension of all of these thoughts and feelings and an offering I am excited (and nervous) to share with you. Hope to see you there.
With gratitude,
Kristen
PS — a soft and airy declaration that I don't want to fight, but I don't want to lose.
