yearning for, seeking more generous possibilities

Just before summer started, I expressed a desire to slow down and reassess things, including my hypnosis practice. Looking back over the last couple of months, I realize that I needed to assess my energy and capacity to be of service. I noticed that my care and attention wanted to flow into other areas of my life. Amidst this flow, I’ve had to reimagine myself amidst waves of self-doubt, stagnation, and grief, while inviting in more warmth, flexibility, personal care, acceptance, and possibility.
Feeling more steady and sure of myself, I feel a nudge to say: Hey! I’m back and my hypnosis books are wide open. I’m wholeheartedly ready to be here again, doing this important work with you.
This nudge comes with the sense that amidst collective grief, many of us are yearning for, seeking something else. Something beyond words. Something deeply felt that says this is not the way, this is not how things should be. What could be, then? What is possible? How might we allow ourselves to wander/wonder into more generous possibilities?
Truth be told, there is no easy way to do this. But I do believe that change can happen over time, through tiny, steady shifts in our habits and beliefs. I believe that curiosity, compassion, creativity, and consistency are important to this process. And I believe that hypnosis is one approach of many that can cultivate transformation.
I’m currently reading The Next American Revolution: Sustainable Activism for the Twenty-First Century by Grace Lee Boggs. I can’t stop thinking about these passages, which offer nuanced thoughts about change and transformation on personal and collective levels:
“...visionary organizing begins by creating images and stories of the future that help us imagine and create alternatives to the existing system.”
“These are the times that try our souls. Each of us needs to undergo a tremendous philosophical and spiritual transformation. Each of us needs to be awakened to a personal and compassionate recognition of the inseparable interconnection between our minds, hearts, and bodies; between our physical and psychical well-being; and between our selves and all the other selves in our country and the world…Each of us needs to make a leap that is both practical and philosophical, beyond determinism to self-determination.”
Boggs suggests that we need to “change the cultural images or the symbols that play such a pivotal role in molding us into who we are…Art can help us to envision the new cultural images we need to grow our souls.”
Hypnosis, while no panacea, is a highly creative practice that encourages us to use a resource and technology inherent to us all: our imagination. It offers a compassionate auditing of the beliefs, stories, and habits that may be limiting our ability to embody the change we seek. Hypnosis helps us to unearth the poetry within, revealing ideas, possibilities and solutions that might not have been as previously apparent to us.
I have so much to say about this work and I’d love to continue the conversation with you. I invite you to set up a free consultation, read other clients’ experiences, or (if you’re feeling it) go ahead and book sessions with me.
With gratitude,
Kristen
